"The world's worst ever foot-and-mouth outbreak has ended in all but one English county, the government has announced." BBC 31/12/2001

Thankfully North Yorkshire has had no more outbreaks since 18th August 2001 and nationally the last confirmed case was 20th September.

From a visitor's point of view most footpaths and attractions that would be open at this time of the year are now open.

For residents it will be a long time before 2001 is forgotten....
